A Maryland federal government authorities is implicating Anheuser-Busch of promoting binge drinking to university student with the business ’ s release of 77-packs of Natural Light beer.
In honor of Natural Light ’ s year of production in 1977, the business launched the limited-edition product packaging in College Park, Md., which looks like a keg. The specialized product offered out ahead of the University of Maryland ’ s homecoming weekend.
“ They ’ re undoubtedly promoting binge drinking by youths, ” Comptroller Peter Franchot, who is accountable for the tax and policy of alcohol in Maryland, informed WUSA-TV.
The 77-packs were so popular, numerous on social networks joked about taking trip to the location to choose one up. Others waited in line to purchase them as quickly as they were unloaded from delivery van, WUSA-TV reports.
Some trainees think the keg-shaped product packaging was the ideal navigate for their school ’ s keg restriction.
“ It ’ s fantastic marketing, ” one trainee informed the station. “ We just had it here and they make it like it was a one-time thing so that triggered a few of the buzz. ”
Upon the preliminary statement of the 77-packs, representatives for Anheuser-Busch, which is headquartered in St. Louis, did not instantly return Fox News ’ ask for remark regarding why the University of Maryland was chosen as the location for circulation.
